Mission Statement by OFCA

OFCA is Identifying and developing new initiatives to meet local needs has enabled OFCA to provide a unique level of service to the communities, which it serves.To establish a framework that would complement regeneration initiatives, by providing, promoting and developing projects, initiatives and opportunities for communities, groups and individuals and promote collaboration between statutory, private and voluntary organisations to achieve sustainable regeneration.

Work determined by resident: Bringing residents together to identify what they want to do and work a pace determined by the abilities, priorities and commitment of residents.

Building self confidence and skills : Disadvantaged communities are often handicapped by the view of outsiders. The negative image they are given become a self-fulfilling prophecy, as those with any choice move to live elsewhere than in such neighbourhoods. Positive publicity is a key to breaking into this spiral of decline.

Promoting Areas of disadvantages : is advantaged communities are often handicapped by the view of outsiders. Bringing in Resources : Community development can create a “multiplier effect” bringing in resources on top of those directly attached to the agency. These can take the form of numerous grants to community organisations from the Local Authorities. The Government Programmes, Trusts, Public and Private Sector, European Funding and other grant making bodies..

Local Learning : The Local Learning concept has positive connotation, it provides accessible social, educational, leisure and enterprise activities that empowers previously socially excluded people to take control and become stakeholders in improving their community.
